Trinity welcomes all children, young adults, and adults who would like to learn more about the Bible and the life and teachings of Jesus and His disciples to attend our Sunday School classes. Also, all youth, their friends, and parents are invited to participate in our fun, challenging, and often spiritual Youth Fellowship activities.
Adult Sunday School
Trinity Episcopal Church offers Sunday School sessions at 9:15-9:45 a.m. on Sunday mornings in the format of an adult forum. Adult forums can be a book study, topic presentations, or other educational experiences. These are led by both lay and clergy members depending on the topic.
Elementary School
Trinity Episcopal Church offers Sunday School sessions at 9:15-9:45 a.m. on Sunday mornings. All Church School classes are led by Mr. Richard Micklos, a retired Anne Arundel County Public Schools teacher with 30 years of experience in elementary ed.
The Sunday School lessons are normally based on the Gospel reading for that Sunday. By studying the selection and, often, doing an activity related to it, the students are better able to understand the reading and the homily. Hopefully, this helps to enrich their participation in the service.
Some of the subjects covered include: the parable of the prodigal child, the ministries of Tabitha and Lydia, Peter’s dream, Jesus’s healing of the Roman centurion’s slave, Paul’s advice to Timothy, Jesus’s healing of the ten lepers, the parable of the widow and the judge, the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector, and the prophesies of Isaiah.
The seasons of Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, and Pentecost are studied and observed by children.
An important part of each Sunday School is living Christ’s teaching. Children regularly participate in Trinity’s Backpack Blessings meal program with our partner school. In Matthew 25:31-46, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” It is one of the goals of our Sunday School to help students apply Jesus’s teachings to their daily lives whenever possible.
Middle and High School
We welcome all youth who would like to learn more about the Bible and the life and teachings of Jesus and His disciples to attend our Sunday School classes. Also, all youth, their friends, and parents are invited to participate in our fun, challenging, and often spiritual Youth Fellowship activities. Ryan Thompson, our Youth Director has been with the church for many years.
The youth of our church serve in many capacities. They read passages from the Bible during the church service, bring the gifts to the altar, and sometimes take up the offering. They often give an Easter Reading from the Book of Mark on Palm Sunday for the congregation, make placemats and serve food at our annual Thanksgiving Day dinner for the homeless and congregants, and perform a well-received Christmas Pageant.
