Living the Joy of Easter
For many people, Easter is a single joyful Sunday filled with flowers, music, and celebration. In the Episcopal Church, however, Easter is not just one day — it is a season. The Easter season lasts for 50 days, beginning on Easter Sunday and continuing through the Day of Pentecost.
During this season, Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ and reflect on what it means to live as “Easter people” in the world today. Easter reminds us that hope is stronger than fear, light overcomes darkness, and God’s love has the power to bring new life even in difficult times.
In Episcopal worship, the Easter season is marked by joyful music, the return of the word “Alleluia,” and scripture readings that focus on the risen Christ appearing to his disciples. These stories remind us that faith is not about perfection or having all the answers. Instead, Easter teaches us to trust God’s presence, even in uncertainty, and to share Christ’s love with others through compassion, service, and community.
The themes of Easter are deeply connected to everyday life. Renewal, grace, forgiveness, and reconciliation are not just church words — they are invitations to live differently. Easter calls us to be people of hope in our homes, workplaces, schools, and neighborhoods.
At Trinity Episcopal Church, the Easter season is also a time to celebrate community. We gather together in worship, prayer, fellowship, and outreach, remembering that the joy of the resurrection is meant to be shared. Whether you are exploring faith for the first time or have been part of the Church for many years, you are welcome here.
As we continue through this Easter season, may we carry the message of resurrection into the world: that love is stronger than death, hope is never lost, and new beginnings are always possible through God’s grace.
